August 15, 1995 - The Beginning
December, 1996 - The Move
I got a new job in Pittsburgh and I moved by homepage there. I was the network administrator in a college environment, what better place to keep the Micronauts homepage? This was a great place for the Micronauts; there were hardly any people with homepages, so I wasn't using much space or bandwidth, and I didn't even think people cared or even knew that I had my homepage there. What could go wrong?
April, 1997 - Scandal!
A reporter (if you could call him that - troublemaker with too much time and too little information on his hands is what I'd call him) featured the Micronauts Homepage as a source of corruption in the Information Systems department (and namely, me). Despite the fact that the site took a fraction of a percent of the available resources and actually attracted attention to the school, I was ordered to get my homepages out of town. I will not mention that college in these homepages so they will not get any links from me. (I finally quit that place in 1998.) This "reporter" also published this single edition of the school's newspaper at the end of the semester so no one could contradict his lies and ignorance. Fortunately, no one really read the paper, and I threw the extras in the trash.
May, 1997 - A New Home
After the scandal, I moved my homepages to the Concentric Network, and so ended the era of free web space. Fortunately, if you don't need dial-up access, Concentric Network's web hosting fees are pretty reasonable. Their performance isn't the tops, but I guess you get what you pay for.
June, 1997 - A New Beginning
After seeing numerous homepages with improved interfaces and navigational aids, I decided to revamp the Micronauts Homepage. I wanted to reorganize the layout make navigation more intuitive. I also wanted to integrate the figures in the Rare section in with the rest, since scalpers and less-than-scrupulous dealers were charging a premium for those figures.
I decided to categorize the Micronauts based on their characteristics (figures, aliens, magno, giants, vehicles, cities, and misc.). Each Micronaut would have its own homepage and would include box or card photos, pictures of color variations, and detailed character information. Needless to say, this is an ongoing effort and will take some time to complete, especially since I just bought a house (to remodel) and was blessed with a baby girl.
January, 1999 - Another Move
The new Micronauts Homepage is beginning to take shape. I contracted with a new ISP, icom.com, registered a domain name, and am beginning to move sections as I revise them to the new site. I decided not to use the disk space I had as a student at the University of Pittsburgh, since I might actually need the space to do school work (imagine that).
October 26, 2006 - Another Move
ISPs unfortunately sometimes, change hands a lot. I found I could get a better deal elsewhere, so off I went. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. My intial move was horrid, so I had to quickly change to IXWebHosting which is pretty cool. So, more disk space, better support, all the good things you'd want for the latest home for the Micronauts Homepage.
November 16, 2018 - Yet Another Move
IXWebhosting must have merged or folded because verything stopped working all of a sudden. Site5 seems to have taken over, but at twice the price, so I dumped them and now I'm with NetworkSolutions, which also is the domain registrar.
